ANYWHERE & EVERYWHERE

an online Photography Exhibit by Adnan Adam Onart

Aperture,  an opening to let in the light symbolizes the goodness of the photography that transforms negatives into positives in its traditional analog-style;  lifting our spirits when we are down, shedding light on the challenges of life, or highlighting its beauties when we fail to see them. In all its forms photography emerges as an uplifting force against the dark.

Although I mostly enjoy photographing daily life taking its course around me in a “street” style, I use my cameras also to document cultural, academic events around my neighborhood, to take portraits of my friends and family members, and to capture the scenes from my travels. I also try my hand at photographing the brutalist style buildings where I live, including some abstract views of their structural details. Finally, I photograph the paintings of my wife, Carol O’Neill to put on display on her WEB site.  Because of this variety of photographic genres, I call myself “Photographer at large” and this exhibit not only “against the DARK” but also “Anywhere & Everywhere” against the dark.

A Room for Light

The world is a dark place.
Each photograph captures
some rays of light.
Look at this, it says,
look at me,
and care.

And photographs say this
in two voices.

One says:
All is not dark.
I am light.
This is light,
and care.

This is darker than the darkest,
the other says.
Where is the light
and care?

Photography is an invitation
in both of its voices
to light and care.
