<image:title>WELCOME - A Room for Light</image:title>
<image:caption>The world is a dark place. Each photograph captures some rays of light. Look at this, it says, look at me, and care. And photographs say this in two voices. One says: All is not dark. I am light. This is light, and care. This is darker than the darkest, the other says. Where is the light and care? Photography is an invitation in both of its voices to light and care. Adnan Adam Onart Cambridge MA, 2017</image:caption>

<image:title>GALLERIES - The joy of taking pictures, the joy of looking at them</image:title>
<image:caption>Day in day out, I take all kinds of pictures: capturing urban lives, documenting academic lectures, street performances, sharing my awe in front of architectural structures, preserving the memories from my travels, keeping life stories of my friends and family members alive… I don’t claim or aspire to excel in photography in general or in any of its genres. This doesn’t curb my enthusiasm for photography. I find joy in taking pictures, I hope you encounter the same while looking at them.</image:caption>

<image:title>GALLERIES - CITY - City Life</image:title>
<image:caption>“Street Photography” as a subject invites a lot of discussions: Can it be in color? Does it have to always include people? To avoid all these discussions, I prefer to use the term “City Life.” This genre forms the main goal of my photography: to document everyday life as it takes place in my neighborhood, in my town. Of course, there are also ethical, even legal implications related to “street photography:” To my knowledge, in the country where I live, there is no legal restriction on photographing people in public space; but I try to abide by the golden rule of street photography: “Thou shall not photograph others in circumstances you wouldn’t want yourself to be photographed." You can read a fictionalized version of the tension most street photographers encounter every day in my poem "The man who didn't want..."</image:caption>

<image:title>GALLERIES - TRAVEL - TRAVEL</image:title>
<image:caption>I am not much of a traveler. But whenever we travel, I also make sure that one of my cameras is with me. Isn't travel photography, street photography pursued elsewhere? The general advice given to street photographers states "act like a tourist." A corollary would be "don't neglect to pursue your street photography when you travel." To me, taking pictures doesn't interfere with the experience of the place, on the contrary, it intensifies the pleasure. I enjoy more, the Berkshires, Western Massachusetts, Bodrum, the Aegean Sea when I try to capture their beauties. I was not up to speed yet with digital photography, when I visited my ancestral land, Crimea. This is one of my deepest regrets.</image:caption>

<image:title>GALLERIES - EVENTS - Events</image:title>
<image:caption>"Events" offer a refuge for me as some kind of street photographer, During events, typically people don’t mind being photographed, in some cases, they welcome being photographed, appreciate even the documentation of their actions, and behavior. The photography becomes a magnifier of their expressions that they would like to be seen. Event photography is a favorite of mine, because I find delight in photographing people — they can be a source of joy for our sometimes miserable existence.</image:caption>

<image:title>GALLERIES - PORTRAITS - PORTAITS</image:title>
<image:caption>There is an age in our lives when the loved ones start taking their leaves more often — so painful, so sad. It is this pain, this sadness that lead me to undertake the PORTRAIT-52 project, during which I made an attempt to make a portrait of a family member, of a friend, a friend of a friend, each week. Immediately I came to realize, that still photography doesn’t capture all dimensions of life stories: it preserves the look on the face, but it doesn’t record the intonation of the voice, the motion of a gesture. For these, I had to venture into video. You can access these recordings through the WEB site of the project.</image:caption>

<image:title>GALLERIES - ART - ART, Architecture & Abstraction</image:title>
<image:caption>Traveling to places, walking the streets of my town, of my neighborhood, I cannot help but enjoy the magnificence work of world-renown architects, sometimes, of not so well renowned builders. I try to capture my perception of their impressive structures, without completely neglecting some details to keen to abstraction. And I have the happiness of being married to a painter, who deploys in front of my eyes the abstract beauty of the colors, shapes, textures, teases to the 3rd dimension. I feel it is my duty not only as a husband but as a privileged photographer to document the product as well as the process of these creative acts. But I must confess, this is where my photography fails the most to do justice to its subject: the subtle melody of the colors, barely noticeable ballet of the texture, and the rich wardrobe of appearances that keep changing with the changes of light, and the mood of the onlooker</image:caption>

<image:title>GALLERIES - OLDIES - 1970’s</image:title>
<image:caption>After my first attempt to photography as an elementary school kid, (the fictionalized version of this story can find in my poem FERRANIA), I approached analog photography more seriously early in my youth by taking pictures of the old houses in Istanbul, people on the streets, kids oF the villages… All those wooden houses most likely have disappeared now forever. I wonder what happened to those children. I wonder who those people were and why they looked the way they looked.</image:caption>
